Terms of Service

Last updated: August 11, 2026

These Terms govern your use of Burn CD (the "Service"). By opening the site and making or viewing a virtual CD, you agree to what's below. If you don't agree with any part of it, please don't use the Service.

1. What the Service is

Burn CD is a free, browser-based toy for assembling a virtual mix CD β€” a sequence of short music previews plus an optional handwritten note β€” and sharing it as a link. The Service does not write to physical media and does not provide full-length audio.

2. Your account… or lack of one

There are no accounts here. You don't log in, and you can't be locked out. That also means we can't recover a disc for you if you lose the link β€” keep the share URL somewhere safe if it matters to you.

3. Acceptable use

When you create or share a disc, you agree not to:

  • Use the Service for anything illegal in your jurisdiction, or that infringes someone else's rights;
  • Put content into a note or track list that harasses, threatens, doxxes, or otherwise harms a person;
  • Try to overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the site, or build automated tooling that hammers our endpoints;
  • Use the Service to distribute malware, spam, or deceptive links.

We reserve the right to disable or remove a shared disc that violates these rules, with or without notice.

4. Your content

You're responsible for the discs you create β€” the track choices, the cover, and anything you write in the note. By sharing a disc, you confirm you have the right to share the material behind its track previews (the previews themselves are served by Apple Music) and that your note doesn't violate anyone's rights. We don't claim ownership of your content; you keep whatever rights you have.

5. Intellectual property

The Service's interface, visuals, and code belong to this project and are provided for your personal, non-commercial use. The music itself β€” every track on every disc β€” belongs to its respective rights holders. Burn CD links to short previews from the Apple Music catalog; it doesn't host or transmit full songs, and it isn't a substitute for buying or streaming the real thing.

6. Third-party services

The Service depends on Apple Music for track search and previews, and on a hosting provider for delivery. We're not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or policies of those third parties, and their terms apply when you interact with them (for example, by following a track to Apple's store).

7. "As is" and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We don't promise it'll be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific track will stay searchable. To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or incidental damages arising from your use of the site.

8. Suspension and takedowns

We may restrict access or remove a shared disc to protect the Service, comply with the law, or respond to a valid rights complaint. If you believe a disc infringes your rights, email [email protected] with the URL and the basis for your request.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. When we do, we'll change the date above. Continuing to use Burn CD after a change means you accept the revised Terms.

10. Contact

Questions about these Terms are welcome at [email protected].
